HISTORY OF ROSEMARY OIL
First trial cultivation in India was made by Kalyansundaram and Venkataratnam (1965 ) in Government Cinchona Plantation at Naduvattam and Dodabaeetta in 1965. The Oil was obtained in ayield of 1 %. The Rosemary plant is very dense evergreen shrub, up to 1 m in height with characteristic aromatic smell, with lavender-like leaves. The plant has an Erect stem divided into numerous long, slender branches bearing many sessile opposite leaves , smooth and green , wooly,whitish and glandular beneath. The leaves are 2 to 4 cm long, almost cyclindrical, floded inwards.The flowers are situated in little clusters towards the ends of the ends of the branches, Calyx is two-lipped, the upper with a single broad oval lobe, the fruit is an oval,4 sectioned cremocarp .

USES
