DESCRIPTION
- Rosa damascena, more commonly known as the Damask rose, is a small shrub with thorny stems. Originally from the Syrian capital Damascus, it is highly sought after for its fragrance and its many therapeutic properties. The first pure rose essential oil is said to have been produced by the Persian physician Avicenna in the 10th century. Distillation of the fresh flowers also produces rose floral water.
